IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR STUDENTS ABOUT TODAY’S JOB MARKET
Will I get a job?
This is the question on the minds of students here at Tufts and across the country. Given the serious economic downturn, Tufts Career Services has anticipated your concerns. We have been working vigorously to create programs and services to help you succeed in your job search. In addition to these new offerings, we are reaching out to alumni and employers to identify as many opportunities for you as possible.
In a tight job market, with layoffs, hiring freezes, and salary caps, your success will depend largely on how well you use your resources, including what we offer in Career Services. Please Note: Your job search will require more time and energy than you may have expected.
As always, we are eager to support you.
Four Tips for a Tough Job Market
Re-evaluate your goals ~ This is not the time for rigid criteria; flexibility will expand your range of opportunities.
Brainstorm ~ Explore new ideas, engage in ‘what if’ scenarios, and develop backup plans. Creativity and openness will help you discover new options
Shift into high gear ~ Your success depends on energy, consistency, and tenacity.
Network, Network, Network ~ Look beyond online postings and connect with people who can give you useful information
Tufts Career Services has guided Tufts students into the workforce through many economic cycles, and we are prepared to help you today.
