Parent Giving

All Tufts students receive some kind of financial assistance for their education. Tuition covers just 67 percent of the cost of educating each Tufts student; the remainder must come from other sources.

Contributions to the Tufts Parents Fund are applied to the university’s operating budget and help to bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost of a Tufts education. Gifts to the Parents Fund also support acquisitions for the university library, athletics, information technology, the purchase of scientific and technological equipment, renovations—and, of course, financial aid. Parents also support specific initiatives such as endowment and building projects.

The Tufts Parents Fund is guided by Parents Committee members who serve as representatives of geographical regions, classes and certain constituencies. They consist of current and past parents, and parents who are also Tufts alumni. The Parents Committee writes and reviews letters soliciting gifts to the Parents Fund, host regional receptions, and assists the Director of the Parents Program during the annual Parents Weekend program and other on-campus events during the year.

Parents are encouraged to support the university at all levels of giving. Leadership gifts qualify parents for membership in special donor recognition societies . Please review the methods and ways to give or call the Parents Program at (617) 627-3798 for more information.
